The Delhi Police had sent a DNA sample of Monica Yadav’s mother for testing. Delhi Police Special Commissioner Ravinder Singh Yadav confirmed a match between the DNA from the sample sent by Monica Yadav’s mother and the DNA of the soldier, establishing confirmation. Monica Yadav, a female constable of Delhi Police posted in Burari Pushth, was identified through DNA profiling of skeletal remains found in the drain near North Delhi’s Burari.
The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch received a DNA profiling report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) related to Monica Yadav’s skeletal remains found in the drain. The sample sent for matching belonged to Monica Yadav’s mother. Senior Delhi Police officials revealed that a specialized DNA test focusing on mitochondrial DNA was conducted due to its unique nature.
A senior police officer shared that the Crime Branch received the report two days ago, confirming the match between the skeletal remains found in the drain and Monica Yadav. The police are preparing to file a charge sheet in this case soon.
According to a senior officer from Delhi Police, Monica Yadav’s mother’s DNA sample was sent for matching. A unique type of DNA test, specifically mitochondrial DNA analysis, was conducted due to the nature of the sample being from the mother.
The police officer mentioned that the Crime Branch received the report two days ago. DNA profiling revealed that the skeletal remains found in the drain belonged to Monica Yadav. A charge sheet has been prepared in this case, and it has been sent for verification to the government lawyer.
The police have also collected voice samples of the accused, Surendra Singh Rana, and his brother-in-law, as part of the investigation. Additionally, the police plan to take voice samples of Monica’s brother-in-law, as he had spoken to Surendra Singh Rana.
Monica Yadav, who served as a constable in Delhi Police, had assisted Surendra Singh Rana, a Delhi Police personnel, in committing a murder two years ago. Rana deceived everyone, claiming that Monica was alive. The Crime Branch arrested Rana on October 2nd. The police also arrested Rana’s brother-in-law Robin and a friend.
Surendra had allegedly committed the murder by strangling Monica and then disposed of the body in the drain in North Delhi. He considered Monica a hindrance to his position in the PCR unit. Monica was trying to expose Surendra’s wrongdoings, and he lured her to Burari Pushth, where he committed the murder and disposed of the body.
Monica Yadav joined the Delhi Police Force as a constable in 2014 and came into contact with Surendra Singh Rana in 2018. Both were posted in the Police Control Room, and they developed a friendship over time. In 2020, Monica cleared the exam for the post of Sub-Inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police and left Delhi Police. She began preparing for the UPSC exam while staying in PG accommodation in Mukherjee Nagar. Surendra helped her, and their relationship became closer.
On September 8, 2021, they had an argument, and Surendra decided to kill Monica. He took her to Burari Pushth and strangled her before throwing the body into the drain. Monica was reported missing on October 20, 2021, at the Mukherjee Nagar police station. Surendra misled the police continuously, and Monica’s sister met the Police Commissioner. Finally, the primary FIR was registered on April 12, 2023, and the case reached the Crime Branch in July.
Surendra involved his brother-in-law Robin in the plan. Robin informed everyone that Monica had eloped with him, and they were safe. Surendra kept in touch with the family, repeatedly lied, and misled them. Suspicion arose when he played an old recording of Monica to deceive the family. Using Monica’s documents, Surendra took several women to different hotels, creating an impression that Monica had gone there. He operated Monica’s bank account, withdrew money from ATMs wearing a helmet, and even arranged a fake COVID vaccine certificate for her. The Crime Branch initiated a reverse investigation. The details of the numbers from which Monica’s family received calls were traced. The police arrested a person named Rajpal, who had sold a fake SIM card to Robin. Subsequently, the police reached Robin and, upon mentioning Surendra’s name, he confessed to everything.
