Nakul assured the audience at a ‘Karyakarta Abhaar Sammelan’ in Madhya Pradesh that Kamal Nath would offer his support and guidance throughout Nakul’s candidacy for the upcoming Lok Sabha election in the Chhindwara constituency. Nakul, the son of Congress leader Kamal Nath, made this declaration even before the official announcement of the party’s candidates for the general elections.

Speaking to the gathering, Nakul asserted, “I want to clarify that Kamal Nath will not contest the election; I will be your candidate for the Lok Sabha elections this time as well.” Emphasizing the unity in Lok Sabha polls compared to assembly elections, he added, “There is no factionalism in Lok Sabha polls because there is only one candidate. I will be your candidate.”

Kamal Nath, the senior Congress leader and current MLA from Chhindwara, was present on the stage when Nakul made this announcement. Nakul expressed gratitude to the audience for their support and conveyed that Kamal Nath would continue to provide support, love, and guidance throughout his candidacy. The Chhindwara constituency has been a stronghold for Kamal Nath since 1980, with nine consecutive terms as its MP.

In the 2019 election, Nakul Nath contested from Chhindwara and secured victory with a margin of 37,536 votes, despite the BJP’s success in the other 28 seats in the state. Following the assembly election defeat in the same year, Kamal Nath was replaced as the Madhya Pradesh Congress chief.
