At the HT Leadership Summit, Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized his former party, the Congress, for selecting Mallikarjun Kharge as its chief. He remarked that had Shashi Tharoor won the polls for the position, he would have hailed it as a sign of democracy within the Congress.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor swiftly responded to Himanta Biswa Sarma’s remarks, shortly after the Assam chief minister’s appearance at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit (HTLS) 2022 on Saturday. Tharoor asserted that there are many “forward-thinking individuals in the Congress” who may eventually migrate to the BJP.
In reference to Sarma’s assertion about the 1,000 individuals who voted for him in the recent Congress presidential election, Tharoor remarked, “Those who exhibit courage will never align with the BJP. It is those lacking in courage who may find themselves tempted to do so.”
