Tamil actor Junior Balaiah, renowned for his roles in films like “Sundarakandam,” passed away at the age of 70 at his residence in Chennai. Junior Balaiah, born Raghu Balaiah, was the son of TS Balaiah, a prominent figure in Tamil cinema. He began his career in theater before transitioning to the film industry.
Over the course of his career, Junior Balaiah appeared in more than a hundred films, including notable works like “Karakatakkaran,” “Gopura Vasalile,” and “Sundarakandam.” In the 2010s, he made infrequent appearances in Tamil cinema and received critical acclaim for his role as a headmaster in “Saattai” (2012).
Junior Balaiah tragically passed away on Thursday morning due to asphyxiation. His funeral is scheduled for Thursday evening, and further details about the last rites are awaited.
In addition to his film career, Junior Balaiah also ventured into television, featuring in shows such as “Chithi,” “Vazhkai,” and “Chinna Papa Periya Papa.” In 2019, he appeared in Ajith Kumar’s “Nerkonda Paarvai,” the Tamil remake of the movie “Pink.” His final film, “Yennanga Sir Unga Sattam,” was released in 2021.
