Rohit Sharma shed light on the decision to have Shubman Gill bat at No. 3 for India in Tests, clarifying that the call was Gill’s own. Gill, previously an opener, opted to move down the order for the two-Test series against South Africa. Rohit acknowledged Gill’s preference for the No. 3 position, emphasizing Gill’s understanding of his batting. Rohit, sharing his experience, mentioned that he disliked batting at No. 3 and believes that opening or waiting to bat at No. 5 or 6 is more suitable. While Gill has opened in Tests and limited-overs, No. 3 is his preference, and Rohit respects Gill’s individual choice for that batting position.
