During the New Year celebrations in Bengaluru, over 300 cases of drunk driving were registered by the City Police Department. The festivities in the capital of Karnataka witnessed a series of accidents, particularly involving bikers driving under the influence of alcohol. The police took stringent action, registering cases against more than 300 individuals found operating vehicles while intoxicated.
In addition to the drunk driving cases, the police reported a total of 14 accidents, with four of them resulting in fatalities. To monitor and curb violations during the New Year’s Eve celebrations, the traffic department conducted a special drive, scrutinizing the large crowds for potential offenses. According to news agency ANI, more than 330 motorists were apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol during this operation.
The special drive involved the inspection of over 7,620 vehicles on Sunday night, with the police identifying and taking action against the violators. Cases were registered against those caught driving after consuming alcohol. Meanwhile, authorities informed that a total of 14 road accidents occurred in and around Bengaluru from Sunday night to the early hours of Monday morning.
