Just earlier this month, the renowned tennis player, Sania Mirza, made the announcement of her retirement from the sport. During the recent Australian Open Mixed Doubles finals, despite a loss alongside Rohan Bopanna, Sania found herself overcome with emotion as she looked back on her journey.
“It all began in Melbourne back in 2005 when I faced Serena Williams in the third round as an 18-year-old. Astonishingly, that was 18 years ago. Returning here repeatedly, clinching victories, and engaging in remarkable finals has been a privilege. Among these experiences, Rod Laver Arena holds a truly special place in my heart. I couldn’t have imagined a more fitting arena to conclude my career in a Grand Slam,” expressed the tennis luminary.
