Lifestyle Desk, New Delhi – Beauty is something everyone desires, but blindly following advice related to health, makeup, and hair care may not always be the right approach, as it can lead to potential harm. There are several misconceptions related to skincare that should not be blindly trusted. Let’s explore some of these myths and uncover the truth behind them.

  1. Myth: Sitting with elbows resting on the table continuously turns the elbows dark. Reality: It is not true that placing weight on the elbows makes them dark; instead, it results from inadequate cleanliness. Regular cleaning of the elbows one to two times a week can prevent darkness. For cleansing, a mixture of lemon, sugar, and honey can be used. Lemon acts as a natural bleach, and honey moisturizes the skin.
  2. Myth: Once crow’s feet appear, they cannot be reversed. Reality: Crow’s feet, the fine lines around the eyes with age, can be reduced. Applying aloe vera gel around the eyes before bedtime can be effective. Additionally, specialized serums available in the market provide a solution, offering both quick and positive results. These serums not only address the problem but also cool the skin around the eyes.
  3. Myth: Back complexion cannot be improved without getting skin polishing done at a beauty parlor. Reality: Skin polishing can be achieved at home using traditional ubtan (paste). A mixture of gram flour, yogurt, turmeric, and mustard oil can be prepared and applied before a shower. Consistent use of this homemade ubtan can bring radiance to the back skin.
  4. Myth: Facial hair cannot be bleached without chemical treatments. Reality: It is not necessary to resort to chemical bleaching for facial hair. A paste made from lentils (masoor dal), lemon, and honey can be a natural alternative for bleaching. Aloe vera gel can also be mixed with lemon juice and applied to lighten facial hair effectively.

In conclusion, it is crucial to question and verify beauty and skincare advice, especially when it comes to the use of chemicals. Simple and natural remedies are often available at home, providing effective and safe solutions to common beauty concerns.
