New Delhi: The onslaught of cold has begun in Delhi and the surrounding areas of the National Capital Region (NCR). A blanket of fog is visible in the sky, covering all directions. On Thursday and Friday night, the temperature in the capital dropped to 6 degrees Celsius. Shivering has reached its peak. People had to take refuge in additional layers to escape the cold. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of further decrease in temperature in Delhi-NCR.

Active Western Disturbance starting today Along with this, the IMD has issued a warning of light rain in some parts of the capital on Friday. According to information, there is a possibility of light rain in the sky over Delhi-NCR on Friday. Along with the rain, it is estimated that the minimum temperature in Delhi may drop to five degrees Celsius. The IMD has stated that the Western Disturbance is becoming active on Friday and its effect will last for a day. Due to this, there may be rain in some parts of the capital.

Possibility of rain in several states of North India Meanwhile, apart from Delhi, there is also a possibility of rain in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan in North India. In addition, on December 23, light rain is possible in North-Western Uttar Pradesh and North-Eastern Rajasthan. In addition, light to moderate rain has been forecast in different locations in Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, and Kerala.

Snowfall in the mountains On the other hand, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. According to the weather department, due to snowfall in these areas, the temperature may drop below freezing. Meanwhile, snowfall in the mountains will increase the cold in the plains.
