Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma recently set a world record by accumulating a T20 International century against Afghanistan. With this, he now holds the record for the most international centuries in this format. Specifically in T20 centuries, Rohit Sharma surpasses even his compatriot Virat Kohli, with the top spot being held by explosive West Indies opener Chris Gayle.

The T20 series played between India and Afghanistan was memorable in many ways. It marked the final series for Team India before the ICC T20 World Cup. During this series, Indian captain Rohit Sharma made a comeback alongside his counterpart Virat Kohli after a hiatus of 14 months.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli left an indelible mark in the T20 International series against Afghanistan. The last time these stalwarts played was during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, where they answered their critics with impressive batting and fielding performances.

In the final T20 match, Rohit Sharma played a record-breaking century under challenging conditions, once again securing the record for the most centuries in T20 Internationals. While Rohit Sharma holds the record for the most 5 T20 centuries, the true king of this format is none other than the explosive West Indies opener, Chris Gayle.

With 22 centuries in the T20 format, Chris Gayle reigns supreme. No other batter comes close to his tally. Pakistan’s Babar Azam is second in this list, trailing behind Chris Gayle. Babar Azam has scored a total of 10 centuries in T20 Internationals, surpassing the renowned Indian players.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma currently holds the record for the most 5 T20 centuries. However, the real T20 maestro remains West Indies’ explosive opener Chris Gayle, who has amassed the most centuries in the format. Australia’s David Warner, Aaron Finch, and Michael Klinger share the third spot with eight T20 centuries each.

Following them is India’s captain Rohit Sharma, who has scored a total of 7 T20 centuries. He shares this position with New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum and England’s Luke Wright, both of whom have also accumulated 7 T20 centuries each.
