The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow has established the Post Graduate Program in Sustainable Management (PGP-SM) with the goal of fostering well-rounded management professionals who possess a comprehensive understanding of economic, social, and environmental issues and their interconnected nature.
The PGP-SM curriculum extends beyond general management courses to include specialized subjects like sustainable management principles, sustainability measurement and reporting, systems thinking, lifecycle management, stakeholder management, and public policy. This program equips professionals to grasp the constantly evolving and interrelated aspects of sustainability challenges and to devise comprehensive, integrated solutions.
Prof. Archana Shukla, Director of IIM Lucknow, remarked, “This program seeks to nurture individuals with heightened awareness and competencies to contribute to the creation of a sustainable society.”
IIM Lucknow highlights several key program features:
- Case Study Methodology: The pedagogy of the PGP-SM emphasizes learning through in-depth case study discussions, presentations, and role-playing, fostering an interactive educational environment within the classrooms.
- International Immersion Program: During the second year of the program, students gain exposure to global leaders from renowned universities worldwide, including Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), Linnaeus University (Sweden), and Maastricht University (Netherlands). Additionally, students visit prominent organizations like IKEA, VOLVO, Electrolux, and Xylem.
- Integrated Projects with Industry: IIM Lucknow maintains strong ties with industry. The program offers a unique nine-month-long integrated live project, providing students with hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings.
- Batch Diversity: The PGP-SM comprises professionals from diverse backgrounds, spanning IT, chemicals, construction, power, fashion, medicine, and social sectors.
Prof. Ashish Aggarwal, Chairman of PGP-SM at IIM Lucknow, revealed that top consulting firms such as McKinsey, Accenture, E&Y, KPMG, and PWC, along with other major companies, actively hire their students, with an average annual salary of Rs. 30 lakhs, and the program boasts a 100% placement record.
