Ranchi: Monday, the 5th of February, is a crucial day for Jharkhand politics. In the special session of the Legislative Assembly, Champai Soren aims to secure a majority. CM Champai Soren asserts that despite one seat vacant in the 82-member Jharkhand Assembly, the ruling coalition has the support of 47 legislators. However, Minister Alamgir Alam claims that the majority figure could range between 48 and 50. Political analysts, while optimistic about the ruling coalition proving its majority, acknowledge that the JMM government faces political turmoil until the floor test is conducted. Amidst this uncertainty, the question arises: Will the Champai Soren government survive in Jharkhand? Could there be a political twist with Champai Soren?

JMM legislator Ramdas Soren admitted to the hospital

Ruling party JMM legislator Ramdas Soren will not participate in the confidence vote. According to information from JMM leaders, Ramdas Soren is unwell and grappling with kidney issues. He is currently admitted to Apollo Indraprastha Hospital in Delhi.

Suspense continues over JMM legislator Chamra Linda

JMM legislator Chamra Linda is also a subject of suspense. The JMM legislator from Bishunpur did not attend any recent meetings of the ruling party. Additionally, he did not go to Hyderabad. BJP legislator Indrajit Mahato will also not be present for the confidence vote.

In the ruling coalition, there are 48 members, and in the opposition camp, there are 29 legislators.

With one seat vacant in the 82-member Jharkhand Assembly, the JMM claims to have the support of 47 legislators, despite the absence of one member. However, the ruling coalition has the backing of 48 legislators, including 29 from JMM, 16 from Congress, 1 from AJSU, 1 from Jhavimo, and 1 from CPI(ML). On the other hand, the opposition camp consists of 25 BJP legislators, 1 from Jhavimo, and 2 from AJSU Party. Two independent legislators, Sarayu Roy and Amit Yadav, are also considered part of the opposition. NCP’s Kamlesh Singh has withdrawn support from the JMM government. Thus, the opposition camp can have a total of 32 legislators.

Hemant Soren will participate in the confidence vote.

Hemant Soren will be present for the trust vote today. The court has granted him permission to attend the session. The court has directed that he refrains from speaking to the media. Meanwhile, Hemant Soren will sit in the next row in the Vidhansabha in Vishesh Sathra.
