Karan Johar candidly discussed the evolving strategies in the film industry, acknowledging the practice of sending public relations (PR) representatives to film screenings to generate positive reviews. During a roundtable with Galatta Plus, Johar revealed that extreme opinions are often expressed by individuals in front of cameras after screenings to make their reactions go viral. He further stated that filmmakers, including himself, also send their own PR teams to praise their films.

Johar explained the rationale behind such practices, noting that in the competitive realm of showbiz, producers sometimes resort to these techniques to ensure their films receive attention. He emphasized the dual nature of his approach, critiquing criticism while simultaneously leveraging positive reviews to promote a film. Johar admitted to occasionally sending his own people to praise a film, especially when striving to make a mark in the industry.

As a producer, Johar highlighted the challenges of promoting a film, particularly those considered “middle order,” where creating an aura and energy perception becomes crucial. He shared that the use of specific lines of praise for a film, repeated by multiple sources, serves as an indicator that positive reviews may have been influenced.

In the context of his directorial comeback with “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, which received widespread acclaim, Johar reflected on the dynamic landscape of the film industry and the various tactics employed to navigate it successfully.
