An official reported that National Highway-44 in Ramban district had been obstructed due to relentless rainfall.

Mussarat Zia, the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, took to social media on X to inform the public about the closure of NH-44 owing to continuous rainfall and encouraged individuals to refrain from embarking on their journeys via this route today.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban made a statement on X, sharing, “NH-44 has been blocked at Cafeteria Morh, near Ramban, due to persistent rains. We advise people to monitor TCUs for updates and to avoid traveling on this route today.”

He also notified that due to the uninterrupted rainfall, all government and private schools up to the Higher Secondary level in Ramban would remain closed for the day.

Furthermore, he mentioned, “Given the continuous rainfall since yesterday, all Government and Private schools up to the Higher Secondary level in District Ramban will be closed today. However, any scheduled exams will proceed as per the designated dates.”

According to the India Meteorological Department, there is a prediction of sporadic heavy rainfall along with the potential for lightning and thunderstorms in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir on October 17.
