Gujarat Health Minister and government spokesperson Rushikesh Patel expressed confidence in Elon Musk’s investment in Gujarat, as Tesla gears up for its debut in India with a manufacturing facility expected to commence operations in January 2024. The official announcement regarding Tesla’s manufacturing unit in the state is anticipated during the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit, according to a report from Ahmedabad Mirror. Gujarat has long been a significant business hub.

Rushikesh Patel recently conveyed optimism about Elon Musk’s investment in Gujarat, aligning with reports that suggest the state government has proposed Sanand, Dholera, and Becharaji as potential locations for the Tesla plant. The facility in Gujarat is strategically positioned to cater to both local and international market demands.

Tesla’s ambitious plan includes localizing 20% of car components within two years, with a subsequent increase to 40% within four years. The company aims to introduce its Model 3, Model Y, and a more budget-friendly hatchback to the Indian market. Leveraging concessional import duties, Tesla aims to significantly reduce the prices of these models, making them more accessible to Indian consumers.
