Tiger 3, the espionage thriller featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, is approaching the Rs 250 crore milestone in the domestic market and the Rs 400 crore mark worldwide on its ninth day of release. The film experienced its lowest single-day box office collection, earning Rs 6.5 crore across all languages in India. Despite a robust Diwali opening, the movie’s overall domestic earnings are at Rs 236 crore, with Rs 250 crore attainable but reaching Rs 300 crore appearing unlikely. In contrast, the fourth installment in YRF’s Spy Universe, Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, achieved over Rs 500 crore domestically and surpassed Rs 1000 crore globally earlier this year. Tiger 3 is currently inching towards the Rs 400 crore mark, with approximately Rs 380 crore accumulated. On the ninth day, the film recorded a 13% overall occupancy in Hindi, while Tamil and Telugu releases generated minimal revenue. Salman Khan faces challenges in the overseas market, particularly in comparison to Shah Rukh Khan, and struggles to make an impact in South India, despite previous attempts with films like Dabangg 3 and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. With a reported budget of Rs 300 crore, Tiger 3 is likely to be labeled as an under-performer, considering high expectations and despite cameo appearances by Shah Rukh and Hrithik Roshan. Despite no industry strike in India, YRF employed a marketing strategy similar to Pathaan, limiting press discussions by the stars. However, the film faced a general sense of indifference from both critics and audiences. The YRF Spy Universe will continue with War 2 in production and a planned Tiger vs Pathaan movie. Tiger 3 ranks as the second-lowest grossing installment in the franchise, surpassing Ek Tha Tiger but trailing Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and Pathaan.
