Nahan, Himachal Pradesh News: Ritu Negi, the captain of the Indian women’s kabaddi team from Shilai Vidhan Sabha constituency in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, has been selected for the Arjuna Award 2023.

Her selection has brought joy to the Sirmaur district. It is worth mentioning that under Ritu Negi’s leadership, the Indian women’s kabaddi team created history by winning a gold medal at the Asian Games held in China.

Ritu Negi Chosen for the Arjuna Award: Ritu Negi showcased India’s prowess in China, earning international acclaim and bringing glory to the country. The announcement of the Arjuna Award for the year 2023 was made by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Wednesday, including Ritu Negi’s name.

In a telephonic conversation with a Dainik Jagran correspondent, Indian team captain Ritu Negi expressed that winning the Arjuna Award is a dream for every athlete. She emphasized that every player should strive hard to achieve victory in their respective sports.

National Sports Awards Ceremony on January 9, 2024: Ritu Negi mentioned that she and her family are delighted to receive the information about the Arjuna Award. It is worth noting that Ritu Negi is currently in her hometown Shilai village. The special ceremony for the National Sports Awards is scheduled for January 9, 2024.

Ritu’s Medal-Winning Achievements: Under Ritu Negi’s leadership, she won a gold medal in Senior National Women’s Kabaddi in 2008, a gold medal in Junior Women’s Kabaddi at the Asian Games 2011, and numerous gold medals in National Women’s Kabaddi from 2012 to 2019. She also secured a silver medal in Senior National Women’s Kabaddi in 2018. Ritu Negi has left an indelible mark in various national and international competitions.

Ritu Negi’s Trophy Cabinet: Ritu Negi has an impressive collection of medals, including gold medals in National Games in 2007, Junior National Games in 2009, and All India University in 2011. She won a silver medal in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.

Member of the Gold Medal-Winning Team in Nepal: In the Asian Games held in Nepal in 2019, Ritu Negi was part of the team that clinched the gold medal. Ritu Negi received training in kabaddi from Sai Sports Hostel in Bilaspur. Currently, Ritu Negi is actively involved in her career with the railways.
