Filmmaker Boney Kapoor has recently shared insights into the tragic passing of his wife and actress, Sridevi, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding her death. Kapoor disclosed that Sridevi frequently adhered to strict diets with no salt, which led to incidents of blackouts. He recounted an episode in which actor Nagarjuna shared a similar experience, revealing that Sridevi even lost a tooth due to fainting.
In an interview with The New Indian, Kapoor revealed, “It was not a natural death; it was an accidental death. I had decided not to speak about it because I spoke about it for almost 24 or 48 hours continuously when I was being investigated and interrogated. In fact, the officers stated that we had to undergo this process due to significant pressure from the Indian media. They eventually concluded that there was no foul play involved. I underwent various tests, including lie detector tests, and the reports clearly indicated that it was an accidental incident.”
Kapoor mentioned that Sridevi was following a strict diet even during the time of her demise and added, “She often starved herself as she wanted to maintain a particular appearance for her on-screen roles. Since the time she became a part of my life, she experienced blackouts on several occasions, and doctors repeatedly mentioned her low blood pressure issue.”
He also recounted an incident shared by Nagarjuna when Sridevi fainted in the bathroom during a film shoot. Kapoor stated, “It was a tragic incident. After her demise, Nagarjuna came to our home to offer his condolences, and he informed me that during one of her movies, she was again following an extreme diet, which resulted in her collapsing in the bathroom and fracturing her teeth.”
Boney Kapoor explained that after their marriage, he became aware of her strict dietary habits and would request his doctor to advise her to incorporate some salt into her diet. He noted that even during dinners, she would request salt-free dishes. He lamented, “Unfortunately, she didn’t take this matter seriously, and she and her doctors thought it might not be a severe issue until the unfortunate incident occurred.”
