In the lead-up to the Rajasthan assembly polls, Gurmeet Singh Koonar, the Congress candidate from the Karanpur assembly constituency, passed away while undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Delhi. The 75-year-old, who held the position of sitting MLA from Karanpur, was admitted to the Geriatric Medicine Ward at AIIMS on November 12. The hospital issued a death certificate citing sepsis with septic shock and renal disease as the cause of death, alongside pre-existing hypertension. The demise occurred ahead of the scheduled polls for the 200-member Rajasthan assembly on November 25.
