This marks the second train derailment in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in less than a week.

On Wednesday, an empty local train coach derailed at Mumbai Central station, causing disruptions to suburban train services, according to an official from Western Railway. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

The derailment occurred around 11.30 am when a wheel of the local train left the tracks while it was entering a car shed. Commuters noted that train operations on the slow line were affected, leading to train bunching between Churchgate and Mumbai Central stations. However, trains on the fast line continued to operate as usual.

One passenger shared her experience, stating that she waited for more than 20 minutes at Dadar station with no incoming trains and insufficient announcements.

This incident follows closely on the heels of another derailment within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Just a few days earlier, a goods train derailed in the Raigad district near Mumbai, causing disruptions on the Panvel-Vasai route. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in that incident as well.
