The primary Mumbai Local train service runs on two key routes: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Kasara (connecting south Mumbai to Thane) and CSMT to Khopoli (linking south Mumbai to Raigad).

On Wednesday morning, a railway official reported that the local train schedule was delayed by approximately 15 minutes beyond Kalyan in the Mumbai suburban network due to foggy weather. The foggy conditions persisted from 6:30 am to 9 am between Vashind and Titwala (located in the Thane district adjacent to Mumbai) and from 5:30 am to 9 am between Karjat (in Raigad district) and Badlapur (Thane).

As a result of these conditions, the main line suburban trains were running behind schedule by approximately 15 minutes. It’s important to note that Mumbai’s local trains are considered the lifeline of the city and carry around 35 lakh commuters daily within Mumbai’s Central Railway (CR) network. The CR’s primary line service encompasses the routes from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Kasara (connecting south Mumbai to Thane) and from CSMT to Khopoli (linking south Mumbai to Raigad).
