Following the World Cup final loss, the dejected Indian dressing room received an unexpected visitor in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After presenting the winners’ trophy to Australian skipper Pat Cummins, Modi consoled and motivated captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid’s heartbroken team. Modi addressed the Indian team and individually spoke with players. Mohammad Shami, the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, later tweeted a picture of him resting his head on the Prime Minister’s shoulder, expressing gratitude for the support. Coach Dravid also addressed the team, focusing on the positives and advising players to move forward. Dravid, uncertain about his future as India coach, stated that he hadn’t thought about it yet. The dressing room’s mood was described as emotional and tough, with players visibly disappointed and Rohit Sharma hiding his teary face under a cap.
