Brahmastra 2: Speculation has surrounded the casting of Dev, Shiva’s father, in the sequel to Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva (2022). Recent reports suggest that Ranveer Singh has been chosen for the role of Dev in the upcoming Ayan Mukerji film.
Ever since the release of Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva in 2022, there have been ongoing discussions about who would portray Dev in the film’s sequel. Earlier conjectures included names like Hrithik Roshan and Kannada actor Yash, but no official confirmation had been made. However, according to a report by News18, Ranveer Singh has now given his approval to portray this highly anticipated character. A source informed the portal, “Ranveer Singh has been finalized to play the role of Dev. He has signed the dotted line. The scripting for the second part is still in progress, and the film is expected to roll in 2025. Currently, Ayan is busy with War 2, and Ranveer will also begin shooting for Baiju Bawra this year. So, when Brahmastra 2 will go on floors is still unclear.”
“If all goes well, Ranveer will kick-start Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra mid-2024. While it was decided that the shoot of Brahmastra 2 will begin in early 2025, it is now being said that Don 3 will go on floors at around the same time. In all likelihood, Ranveer will shoot for Don 3 first and then Brahmastra 2,” added the source.
This marks the first instance where two real-life Bollywood couples, Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone, will be featured together in a film. Deepika plays the role of Amrita, Ranbir Kapoor’s mother, in Brahmastra.
The first installment, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, unveiled the Astraverse to the Indian audience. With Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy playing pivotal roles, the film emerged as one of the highest-grossing releases of 2022. Shah Rukh Khan also made an extended cameo appearance in the movie. Since its debut in September 2022, fans have eagerly anticipated the revelation of who would portray Dev, Shiva’s father, in the movie.
