Rashmika Mandanna stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor in the movie Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, which also includes Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in the cast.
Rashmika shared insights into her character, Gitanjali, in Animal, through a detailed note, as the film continues to dominate the box office. While the Sandeep Reddy Vanga film has received varied reviews, Rashmika portrays Ranbir Kapoor’s girlfriend in the movie, a character with whom he marries and has children but later cheats on. Triptii Dimri also shared her experience working on intimate scenes in the film.
In her note, Rashmika described Gitanjali as the force holding her family together at home—pure, real, unfiltered, strong, and raw. She acknowledged questioning some of Gitanjali’s actions as an actor, but her director emphasized that these actions were integral to the characters’ story, highlighting their love, passion, families, and lives. Gitanjali, in the midst of a world filled with violence and pain, brings peace, trust, and calm. Rashmika defended her character, stating that Gitanjali, like many strong women, stands firm, protecting her family day in and day out.
Animal explores a gang war setting with significant violence, focusing on the tumultuous father-son relationship between Anil Kapoor (Balbir Singh) and Ranbir Kapoor (Ranvijay Singh aka Vojay). Bobby Deol plays the antagonist, and Triptii Dimri has a significant role in the film.
The movie sparked controversy when Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ranjeet Ranjan criticized it, asserting that the film’s endorsement of violence and misogyny is shameful. Ranjan emphasized the influential role of cinema in society and expressed concern about the impact of such films, including Animal, especially on the youth.
