In her role as the Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani will participate in all RIL Board meetings as a permanent invitee to offer her valuable counsel to the company.
During its 46th annual general meeting, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) proposed the appointment of Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani to its board of directors. However, Nita Ambani will step down from the RIL board while retaining her position as the Chairperson of Reliance Foundation.
Preceding the company’s annual general meeting, the board of Reliance convened and endorsed the designation of RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s offspring – Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani – as “non-executive directors of the company,” as outlined in a stock exchange filing.
According to a statement from RIL, “The Board of Directors of RIL, in its meeting held on August 28th, based on the recommendation of the Human Resources, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, has considered and suggested to the shareholders the appointment of Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani as Non-Executive Directors of the Company.”
The commencement of their roles on the board will be contingent upon shareholder approval.
RIL remarked that their inclusion in the board will infuse novel insights and innovative concepts. The board also accepted the resignation of Nita Ambani, who chose to concentrate her efforts and time on guiding and empowering Reliance Foundation to make an even more substantial impact in India.
While relinquishing her position on the RIL board, Nita Ambani, as the Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, will participate in RIL Board meetings as a permanent invitee to continue providing her valuable guidance.

She plays a pivotal role in expanding Reliance Retail into new domains and geographies, along with her active involvement in Reliance Foundation’s initiatives.
- Since June 2022, Akash Ambani has been serving as the Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL). He has played a significant role in leading Jio’s transformational initiatives, utilizing technologies like 5G, AI, Blockchain, and IoT to revolutionize commerce, education, and healthcare in India. He also contributes to Reliance Industries’ retail business and serves on the Board of Jio Platforms Limited.
- Anant Ambani serves as a Director on the Boards of various Reliance entities, focusing on the expansion of energy and materials businesses, global operations in renewable energy, and initiatives for employee engagement and animal welfare. He aims to make Reliance a Net Carbon Zero company by 2035 through various sustainable initiatives.
