India vs Netherlands: In the faceoff against the Netherlands in the 2023 World Cup, Indian batsmen showcased an outstanding performance. From opener Rohit Sharma to the fifth batsman K.L. Rahul, they collectively contributed to innings exceeding 50 runs. Throughout this match, Indian batsmen set a total of 11 records.

Bengaluru: During the last league match of the 2023 World Cup against the Netherlands, India scored a massive total of 410 runs for the loss of four wickets. While Captain Rohit Sharma (61 runs) once again created several records, Shreyas Iyer (unbeaten 128 runs) and K.L. Rahul (102 runs) also made significant contributions. In response, the Netherlands team was dismissed for only 250 runs. India won the match by a substantial margin of 160 runs.

Records made by Indian batsmen against the Netherlands:

  1. Rohit Sharma has hit the most sixes in ODIs in a calendar year, reaching a total of 60 in 2023. This surpasses the record of AB de Villiers, who hit 58 sixes in 2015.
  2. Rohit, along with this, became the captain with the most sixes (24) in a single edition of the World Cup. He surpassed England’s Eoin Morgan (22) in this regard.
  3. Rohit and Shubman Gill jointly lead in making the most partnerships of 100 or more runs in ODIs this year, accomplishing this feat five times.
  4. Rohit has now scored the most runs (503) in a single edition of the World Cup among Indian captains, surpassing Sourav Ganguly’s record of 465 in 2003.
  5. Rohit has joined Sachin Tendulkar in making more than 500 runs in multiple editions (two) of the World Cup. He is the first player to achieve this feat consecutively in editions.
  6. Virat Kohli (51 runs) has scored 50 or more runs in 14 World Cup matches, securing the second position after Sachin Tendulkar (21) in this aspect.
  7. Kohli has joined Tendulkar and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan in making the most 50+ scores (seven) in a World Cup.
  8. It’s the first time that the top five Indian batsmen have scored 50 or more runs in a single ODI innings.
  9. K.L. Rahul became the fastest Indian to score a century in a World Cup match, achieving this feat in 62 balls. He surpassed Rohit Sharma, who took 63 balls.
  10. Indian batsmen have scored 50 or more runs on 20 occasions in this World Cup, their best performance so far, surpassing their record of 19 in 2019.
  11. The partnership of 208 runs between Shreyas Iyer and K.L. Rahul is India’s best contribution for the fourth wicket or lower in a World Cup. Prior to this, the previous best partnership was between Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina (unbeaten 196 runs) against Zimbabwe in 2015.
