Free Aadhaar Update: UIDAI Extends the Deadline to March 14, 2024

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates to March 14, 2024. Initially set for December 15, 2023, this extension allows individuals to update their Aadhaar details without incurring any charges.

UIDAI announced on December 11, 2023, that due to positive feedback from the public, the date for free Aadhaar updates has been extended from December 15, 2023, to March 14, 2024. Following this extension, individuals can easily update their Aadhaar by visiting the My Aadhaar portal.

It’s worth noting that online Aadhaar updates are entirely free. However, if individuals choose to update their Aadhaar details at an Aadhaar center, a fee of ₹25 will be applicable.

Mandatory Aadhaar Update Every 10 Years

Updating your Aadhaar every ten years is compulsory if there have been no changes to your information since its creation. This mandatory update helps the government prevent fraud related to Aadhaar.

How to Update Aadhaar:

  1. Visit the official UIDAI website.
  2. Log in with your Aadhaar number.
  3. Click on ‘Name/Gender/Date of Birth and Address Update.’
  4. Select ‘Update Aadhaar Online.’
  5. Click on ‘Update Address’ and proceed to update your Aadhaar.
  6. Enter the new address and attach the required documents.
  7. A service request number will be generated, allowing you to track your application.

Ensure you complete this process within the extended deadline to avoid any charges for updating your Aadhaar information.
