Former Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq faced criticism for making an inappropriate comparison involving Aishwarya Rai Bachchan following Pakistan’s World Cup exit. Expressing dissatisfaction with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) intentions, Razzaq used a misguided example, invoking the actress’s name. Social media condemned his comments, demanding an apology.

In response, the former cricketer issued an apology, clarifying that he did not intend to offend anyone. During an appearance on Samaa TV, he stated, “Yesterday, we were talking about cricket coaching and intentions. I had a slip of the tongue and mistakenly took Aishwarya Rai’s name. I apologize to her personally. I did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiment.” Additionally, he posted a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), expressing remorse and seeking forgiveness.

The incident unfolded during a press conference attended by former players, including Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi. Razzaq criticized the PCB’s intentions, using Aishwarya’s name as an analogy. Shoaib Akhtar, another former Pakistani pacer, condemned Razzaq’s inappropriate remark and criticized Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul for their reaction. Akhtar emphasized the need to speak out against such disrespect towards women.
