Barack Obama, the former President of the United States, strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks by Hamas on Israel, which have resulted in hundreds of casualties. He expressed his support for Israel’s right to counter Hamas while also emphasizing the need for a fair and enduring peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
In a message posted on X, previously known as Twitter, Obama stated, “All Americans should be deeply disturbed and angered by the audacious terrorist attacks on Israel and the tragic loss of innocent lives. We mourn those who have perished, pray for the safe return of the hostages, and firmly stand with our ally, Israel, in its efforts to combat Hamas.”
“While we endorse Israel’s right to protect itself from terrorism, we must continue to work towards a just and enduring peace for both Israelis and Palestinians,” he further commented.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Hamas group has issued threats to harm the hostages they seized during their border breach, as Israel imposed a complete blockade on the Gaza Strip and severed water supplies. The ongoing conflict has claimed the lives of at least 1,600 individuals.
Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, issued a stern warning to Hamas, with reports indicating the mobilization of 300,000 troops by his government.
“Israel is currently engaged in a state of war. We did not seek this war; it was imposed upon us in a brutal and ruthless manner. While Israel did not initiate this conflict, we are determined to bring it to a decisive conclusion,” he addressed the nation.
“Hamas will realize that their attack on us was a historic mistake. We will exact a price that will be etched in their memory and the memory of Israel’s adversaries for generations to come,” Mr. Netanyahu asserted, likening Hamas to ISIS.
