Amidst uncertainty regarding the Chief Ministerial candidate in Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje held a meeting with BJP president JP Nadda, extending for approximately one hour and 20 minutes. Four days have passed since the announcement of the Rajasthan election results, and the BJP has yet to finalize the Chief Minister candidate, with contenders including Vasundhara Raje, newly elected MLA Mahant Balak Nath, and MLA Diya Kumari.
Reports suggest that while the BJP aims for a fresh face as the Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje is actively lobbying for the top position in the state. Accompanied by her son and MP Dushyant Singh, Raje met JP Nadda at his residence.
Earlier in the day, Mahant Balak Nath met Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament. Having resigned as a Member of Parliament, Balak Nath discussed ongoing developments with Shah and later met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah’s meeting with PM Modi lasted around two hours.
Before her visit to Delhi, Raje showcased her support by meeting approximately 60 MLAs at her residence. Having served as the state’s Chief Minister twice before, Raje is reportedly a frontrunner for the position once again. The BJP Parliamentary Board will make the final decision on the CM candidate, and the party has yet to announce the date for the Legislative Party meeting in Rajasthan.
According to reports, the BJP has finalized the name of its CM candidate for Rajasthan, and the announcement is expected soon. Several BJP MPs, including Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Diya Kumari, and Mahant Balak Nath, resigned as Members of Parliament after winning the assembly polls.
In the Rajasthan Assembly elections, the BJP secured victory with 115 seats, while the Congress won 69 seats out of the 200 in the Legislative Assembly. The majority mark is 100 seats, and elections on one seat were postponed due to the demise of the Congress candidate.
