As per reports, K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), the former Chief Minister of Telangana and leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), suffered a fall at his farmhouse in Erravalli on Thursday, resulting in an injury that required hospitalization. Following his defeat in the state assembly polls, KCR was reportedly meeting people at home.
Reports indicate that KCR has been admitted to Yashoda Hospital, and there are concerns that he may have sustained a hip fracture from the fall, potentially necessitating surgery.
Telangana held its state assembly polls on November 30. In the 2018 elections, BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samithi) secured 88 out of 119 seats with a 47.4 percent vote share, while the Congress came in second with 19 seats. However, the political landscape shifted in 2023, with Congress winning a significant victory by securing 164 seats compared to BRS’s 39. On Thursday, Congress leader Anumula Revanth Reddy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Telangana, marking the first time a Congress chief minister has been elected in the state since its creation in 2014. Revanth Reddy, known for his outspoken criticism of K Chandrashekar Rao, played a prominent role in the Congress’ election campaign in the state.
