On Tuesday, prominent automakers such as General Motors, Toyota, and Volkswagen expressed their opposition to a proposal from US auto safety regulators. The regulators are urging the recall of 52 million airbag inflators manufactured by automotive suppliers ARC Automotive and Delphi Automotive.
During a public hearing, officials from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) asserted that the inflators from these two suppliers should be recalled due to concerns that they might rupture, leading to the release of metal fragments.
